Why Not Me, LORD?

Have you ever been gifted with so many gifts that you don't know which way God wants you to go?

It seems like whatever Idea I come up with, it has already been done to death, or everyone has been there and done that, and I'm late to the party. So late that it doesn't matter if I use the mindset, "Of course, it's been done, but not by you!"

What To Do When the Enemy is Against You!

Have you ever been at your lowest and it just seems as if things just continue to become worse and worse?

Example of old sayings:

"If it ain't one thing it's another."

"I just can't win for loosing."

"I take one step forward and get knocked three steps back."

Younger saying:

"Life ain't fair."

"I just feel like killing myself."

"Can't nothing ever go right for me!"

"I hate my life!"

BREAKDOWN

Jesus Is Tested in the Wilderness

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted[a] {also means tested} by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. {Here we see Jesus at his weakest/lowest point. The enemy doesn't fight fair, he hits below the belt, sneaks you while you aren't looking.}The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” {See what I mean? The enemy is appealing to what the flesh wants. If Jesus was HUNGRY, the enemy tempts with BREAD.}

Jesus answered, “It is written: {Automatically, Jesus hits back with the word of God Immediately.} ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’[b]

{Remember Jesus was at His worse point. 40 days and nights with no food and he was hungry. Have you ever been so hungry, and you get a headache, maybe some stomach cramps, lightheaded? Let us tell it we're starving. Imagine how Jesus was feeling. Remember whenever we're tempted, God gives us a way out. The way out is through the Word of God!}

Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. {Check this... the HIGHEST Point!} “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. {The enemy just told Jesus to kill himself. SMH} For it is written: {The serpent, that old crafty creature is very cunning. Don't forget he also knows the word of God! Jesus hit him with the Word and now the enemy comes also with the Word of God.

“‘He will command his angels concerning you,
    and they will lift you up in their hands,
    so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’[c]

{Clutching my nonexistent pearls! The enemy has hit Jesus with the Psalm 91 scripture! (Psalm 91:11,12) I don't know about y'all, but this is our generational Goto scripture for protection! 🤦}

Someone bullying you at school? Psalm 91!

The enemy coming at you from all sides? Psalm 91!

Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’[d]{Again we see Jesus is not giving in to the tempter but continues to fight using the Word of God as His weapon!}

Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”

{Now we finally get to the real reason of what the enemy wants. What he do? Test Jesus to make sure He was a good and faithful servant and decided Jesus was definitely someone he wanted on his team because He was a true warrior?

We have to remember that we need to have a continual relationship with God Almighty. We have to stay constantly in the Word of God, not just when we need Him to do something for us.

Don't get discourage and give in to the tempter just because you tried to resist once or twice and fought with the Word of God. You have to keep on because the enemy won't stop, so don't you stop! Jesus continued to fight with the Word of God until satan left.}

10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: {Jesus is still fighting with the Word of God!} ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’[e]{Deut. 6:13}

11 Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.

{James 4:7, Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.}

{Resist the devil and he will flee! No matter how many times the enemy comes for you, be ready and prepared wearing the Full Armor of God and attack every time with the Word of God! The devil will have no choice but to leave you alone!}

I love the way the MSG version puts it!

James 4:7-10

7-10 So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him make himself scarce. Say a quiet yes to God and he’ll be there in no time. Quit dabbling in sin. Purify your inner life. Quit playing the field. Hit bottom, and cry your eyes out. The fun and games are over. Get serious, really serious. Get down on your knees before the Master; it’s the only way you’ll get on your feet.
